Do you listen to a certain genre or band/group/composer when you are in particular moods?
Does it help? Make the mood worse?
Ever had a killer case of writers block that a certain type of music always seemed to remedy?
What kind of music helps you write? What type of music could hinder the process?

Well, first of all, I love singing. (It's okay, you can take your fingers out of your ears...) Even though I know I suck. xD But, I can tell what songs I relate to or songs that inspire me by singing. Sometimes when I like the tune or get into it, I get this weird feeling in my chest that kind of bursts and reaches all the way to my toes. It's a short sensation, but I take it that means I like the song. ^^
When I write, I can't have music unless I'm totally focused or the music is soft. The sounds kind of annoy me when I'm trying to think or focus. But, I love all sorts of genres, all except for rap, because its not music. Its a keyboard and talking fast. Not music. Personally, I'd take punk rock over anything.

I try to have music on as much as possible. I normally just put on the radio on and listen to whatever. I have to turn it off when one of the annoying songs are playing though. XD I like to play The Click Five when I want to be cheered up or I'm already hyper. I've also developed a habit to turn on Boulevard Of Broken Dreams whenever I'm angry/sad and I want to stay that way. I don't know why. The best type of music depends on what type of scene I'm in the process of writing. I don't think there's an actual type of music that is bad for my writing except for singers I really hate. Cause then I'll be so busy thinking how much I hate them I'll forget to write. XD

I totally understand the feeling you are describing, Erin. I sing a bunch of musical theatre, so the lyrics and such are very emotion driven, and almost too easy to get caught up in. When you find a song that you can really relate too people can tell. Your voice changes, your stance changes. You know you've got this beautiful song, and you know you can sing it, and you want others to hear it so you try to share that feeling of utter elation. If that makes sense.
Alot of inspiration comes from the music I listen too. I like to think I listen to alot of different things...but I really don't. I basically stick to different genres and listen to basically the same groups. u.u
But I'm trying to be better with that. Kind-of-ish. >.>
